SUPPORTING THOSE EXPERIENCING FOOD INSECURITY IN OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY
14% of Maine's households are considered "food insecure", with 20% of Maine children being food insecure, and another 16% of Maine seniors at risk of going hungry. Unfortunately, 37% those who struggle with food insecurity in Maine do not qualify for public assistance.
An initiative completely spearheaded by members of our team, we have made an annual effort to raise $1000 in monetary donations and 1000lb in non-perishable goods to benefit food pantries in our local area. In our most recent campaign, we worked with the Bowdoinham Food Pantry - in a brief 20 days collecting over $1000 in company-matched monetary donations and 700lbs of non-perishable goods! Our efforts culminated in a team march and 'Stuff the Jeep' Event to further raise awareness of this issue, earning us an extra $500+ on this day alone!
Since the creation of our Wicked Good Community Garden in 2017, the crew here has always been thoughtful in donating harvested organic produce to local food banks. To bolster these efforts, 2022 marked the first kickoff of this annual Wicked Joe Food Drive - that year supporting Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program! And boy, was it a triumphant start: 1213 individual goods with a separate 2600 dollars raised for MCHPP in our first year. With your help, we know we can do even more good this year!
We find community in giving back, and so we here at Wicked Joe Organic Coffees are grateful for all the support shared by members of our community!
