The Coffee and Contemplation Program was born in the spirit of experimentation and exploration of the art of coffee roasting. Providing an opportunity to continue our roasters' coffee journey beyond the day-to-day. The program has now evolved to incorporate a bit of friendly competition between our roasters. This bag holds the winning roast of our most recent project coffee by Jamie Leonard named “RIO CHIXOY”. We are proud to be able to share it with you and we hope that you enjoy it as much as we do!
Notes from Jamie - Hello coffee lovers! My goal with this project was to develop a Dark roast that would appeal to dark roast drinkers while incorporating some attributes that I personally find pleasing in dark roast coffee. You'll find roasty and smoky notes balanced with the sweetness of caramelized sugars and dark chocolate on a creamy, full body.
The name, Rio Chixoy, comes from the large river in Guatemala which flows near to where this coffee was grown, and hand-harvested by farmers and pickers whose hard work consistently brings us some of the best coffee in the world. I hope you will enjoy this coffee as much as I enjoyed developing it!
