The Allagash Wilderness Waterway is a unique natural area established by the People of Maine in 1966. The name 'Allagash' comes from the Abenaki language, a dialect of the Algonquin languages, spoken by the Penobscot Tribe. Located in the heart of northern Maine's working forests, this scenic, 92-mile stretch of rivers, streams, lakes, and ponds, winds northward through a working spruce-fir, northern-hardwood forest. It has long been enjoyed as an outdoor adventurer's paradise, and sanctuary for Maine wildlife. Both the citizens and the state of Maine, through the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, & Forestry, seek to ensure that the Allagash Wilderness Waterway will always been maintained as a place of beauty, refuge and recreation. At Wicked Joe, we have a local concern for environmental and sustainability efforts, leading us to develop our 'Allagash Blend'. We've had this along with our 'Maine State Parks Blend' for nearly ten years, donating a percentage of the sales from each bag and case to various initiatives by the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, & Forestry.
